Trying to find Family of Stephen Smyth

Tristan Report 17 Oct 2009 07:09

Stephen Smyth came over to England from Ireland around the time of WW1 with his brother Edward and his sister Molly, Edward was my Grandfather. Stephen was married to Doris Smyth and they had a daughter Margaret Anne Smyth, I understand that they lived in Belper Derbyshire around 1940. I have a picture of Doris with Margaret Anne who looks to be around 5 or 6 years old in 1940.

Although the family name is spelled Smyth, it is in fact pronounced Smith and on the back of the picture of Doris and Margaret Anne the name is spelled Smith and not Smyth so anyone who knew them would know them by this name pronunciation.

I understand from my Dad, Edward Smyth Jr, that Stephen Smyth died in the 1950's and is buried somewhere in Belper, i also know that he was involved in the local hunts and rode horses extensively.

My Dad went to stay with Stephen and Doris during the war years but other than that my family have few memories of Uncle Stephen as he was known, or his family,

I know that contact with Margaret Anne and Doris was lost after Stephen died and I would like to try to get in touch with any descendants of Margaret Anne Smyth.

Thank you.
