My mother was born in Dundee in 1935, she stayed for a while at the Salvation Army's Children's Home in Dundee. She was then brought up to Aberdeen and looked after by a family who then gave her up to another family when she was one years old. She was raised as Hilda Walker but her birth name was Hilda Mitchell, she was told that her mother's name was Elizabeth Mitchell. She believed her mother to be very young, perhaps born around 1915 and she thought that she had worked at Stracathro Hospital. She visited Hilda until she was about 4 years old.
