Linda Rose Report 25 Sep 2009 20:49

Hi T in Middlesex

I am desperatly searching for my Grandfather George Alfred White Who was born, I am led to believe by family sources, in Canada c1878. He came over to Britiain during the WW1 supplying horses for the army. I believe he travelled backwards and forwards several times during the war. He married my grandmother Caroline ORourke in Camberwell in 1817 and settled in England after the war dying in 1929. He was '39' on his marriage certificate, his occupation was ' Porter' . His father's name was recorded as George Alfred White 'foreman'. If you could find him travelling backwards and forwards to Britain I would at least have an idea of what area in Canada to research as far as census' are concerned.

Thanks in anticipation of any help you can give me

Regards Linda

Susan..

There are only 1 Charles (I used the wild card to see what brings up).

Name: Charles John Gills
Record Type: Baptism
Date: 3 May 1852
Father's Name: Laurence Gills
Mother's Name: Elizabeth Gills

Another one is identical to the one above except it was in St Pancras Parish Church.

Any idea who were his parents?

Where in Canada please?

Brian

Brian Report 25 Sep 2009 13:23

My wife's grandmother Annie Elizabeth Davis' first marriage was to William McAllen in Canada abt 1914. They had a son William McPherson Murry Mc Allen on 3/10/1815 but then William (the father) died abt 1920 in Canada. I'm looking for the marriage date, the date and place of birth for William senior and his date of death. Also any info on the arrival and departureof Annie in Canada would help.
I know she was born in,and returned to Northern Ireland.
Can anyone help,
Brian

Hi Tina,

This is the one that I would very much like the details on the 1916 Canadian Census:

William Turner Saskatoon, Saskatchewan b1866

I think he is my Grandad's father and my Grandad is with him, he was born 1894, both born Birmingham.

If I can help you at Kew at all please do ask me.

Kind regards

Amanda

Jacquie,

Harrison is a common name for me to search for the death of Stella (that is if she never married.. Also Ancestry havent transcibed the deaths for 1916-1984 yet). There were 3 Stella D Harrison marriages but all after 1964.

However, I can try and find Dorothy's (as well as Henry's) death - will check within 20 years after 1934.
