Hi T,

Thanks for your offer,
Hi, I am looking for the birth of a Harvey John Hyde, parents were Harvey Harris Hyde and Emma Wright.I was told his birth was about 1907,there was also a brother called Ernest Hyde born before him.

Am i right in saying there are no records after 1909 on Ancestry? if so where can i find births after this year.Any help greatly appreciated......
Thanks.....Sam

Was their parents called Frank/Francis & Caroline? So I know which guys to follow .. If so, I will check for them born in Islington

Well T we may be distant cousins!! Two of the brothers I can follow to the end, as you know Stedman is a mystery after his marriage, Alfred and Walter I have in the 1861 and then no trace, Percy I have on the 1851 and then not on 61 and no death.

Good grief his brothers are missing too?! What is it with the Greens?? (I hate the colour too!) I have Greens in my family and my ex's surname is Green and his tree is a murder to do! (all from London/Middx too oops).

Anyway, will go and look for them .. Watch this space

Yes thats what I was thinking as well, there are several brothers and some I am unable to identify after 1861, is there anything on the following:

Alfred Green 1840 Middlesex
Percy Green 1841 Middlesex
Walter Green 1845 Middlesex

Nopes.. Not in Quebec, so that's out of the window!!

Just had a horrible thought.. What if Stedman changed his name to avoid being found? :oS

Thank you for your help T...........I am sitting here thinking what man goes across the Atlantic leaving his wife and 2 young children, maybe he never came back and she gave up on him, to save face calling herself a widow. I have just been jigging on the 1911.........looks like Stedmans wife Isabella and her son Frederick are living together.

Seeing that Stedman went to Quebec in 1870.. I'm going to see if he's in any Quebec's BMD records as they normally only display surname in the transciption bit whereas it's full name in the image, so will check 10 years each side from 1891

Ann..

Rechecked the image for marital status - this one doesnt ask for any status to anyone.

As for his wife declaring herself as widowed 2 things.. It might be true that he died between 1883 & 1891 or once the wife or husband doesnt hear or seen the spouse for 7 years then they can legally remarry (unless Stedman married someone during it!).

You're right if only 1890 survived then we might've spotted Stedman either hiding or visiting or god knows what he was doing!

Hi T,

Re: Stedman

Was the marital status question not asked? The baptism for his children did not give a birth date...I know Frederick was 1880 from census info. On the 1881 census Uk its Just Frederick and his mum, no Stedman appears on census for whatever reason, by 1891 his wife is declaring she is a widow living with Frederick..........I think Daisy may have died, if she was Stedmans that narrows her birth 1881/83 oh what a tangled web!
I bet if the 1890 USA census was complete we may have found him.

RE: Stedman!

I thought I posted a reply to you, my apologies I must have not pressed the button............blimey T the info I received from you as above months ago, someone came on thread and said that was him leaving USA! I never questioned them.........this record shows him entering USA (I am correct am I not?)

This throws a different light on everything.......there was a daughter born Uk to Stedman ,Daisy Green baptised 1885 along with her brother Frederick.....looks like he may have been a bit of a cad like his father. May be in touch to pick your brains later!!

Thanks T

Hi Susan,

Had a look for deaths after 1984, nothing .. As for before 1984 it'll be difficult as Ancestry havent transcribed 1916-1983 yet and the only avilable is going through page by pages.

Sorry,

T

Hi Ann,

How can I forget Stedman as that name stuck out like anything :oD

I'm afraid Ancestry only covers from 1878 to 1960 for UK bound

As for Canada, I couldnt find anything of him in the list..

This are the only one in US list

Hi Linda,

The Whites are very common to search and as for the passengers list, they dont often put inital or middle name, so there are many George Whites b c1878 I'm afraid. If only you knew who was George's mother was I'd of looked for him.

Hello T,

Regarding actual burial information, how complete are the records on ancestry?

You helped me several months ago regarding Stedman Green returning to the UK in 1883...........I have found out a bit more regarding his life and now have reason to believe after his going to Canada in 1870 and appearing on the 1871 Canada census he came back to the UK pre 1878 and married 1879. Can you tell me is there any records for incoming UK before 1878 and outgoing between 1880/1883 Can/USA

Hope this does not sound too confusing, getting tired now and a bit bleary eyed! lol

Kindest regards
Ann North Wales
