Kay....Can you combine your info.from your other thread for Albert Ernest Bulley Co.Cork....otherwise the info may get duplicated as I have just spent time looking for his Birth and Canadian Record.

Click on Viv's name and send her a private message with your email address.

She can send you the image directly from Ancestry. You then have to save it to your computer -- use the Save this image button on the page you get. Or she might save the image first and send it to you that way. ;)

I'll see what I can find out about those Scotts! I know what M's father's name was, and he would have been born in the early 1920s, I think, but I don't know who his parents were.

Quite the success -- you're very welcome!

Looks like he travelled to Canada ahead of wife Edith and daughter Grace -- they travelled the same year per the search results at FindMyPast I got.

Then he went back to England in 1921. And met Kay's Nan. ;)

D'you know ... M, the former partner of my said little brother (and mother of my nephew) is a Scott from Toronto of Scotts from Scotland -- I think she's from northeastern Toronto. I wonder ...

My mum has borrowed my sis's cell phone and I could call and ask whether my brother knows what M's grandfather's name was. Except that I am 100% positive he wouldn't have a clue. I'll look into it though. Not that there aren't several brazillion Scottish Scotts in Canada. ;)

Oh ok.

Shall I delete that record from here then???

Only joking.
Gotta go.

Yes, Viv. ;)

That's the one that's visible for free at the Collections Canada site I showed Kay on page 1.

Everybody should bookmark that site -- free access to Canadian Expeditionary Forces WWI attestation papers.

ASG - It might say A.S.O.? -- or more likely A.S.C.? Dunno. Maybe the 1901 census image specifies what military unit he was in. He was a "Pte. Saddler" in whatever it was -- a harness maker in civilian life in Stouffville.

And of course his wife is Edith Annie. As in the 1911 marriage at FreeBMD. ;)

Oh, the transcription -- you may think the English records are bad at Ancestry ... you ain't seen the Canadian ones.

The censuses are understandable; the originals are most often semi-legible scrawls. But the errors on BMD transcriptions are just inexplicable.

JaneyCanuck Report 15 Sep 2009 16:23

Fantabulous -- that has to be Albert's sis Ethel.

York is the county. Agincourt is on the eastern outskirts of Toronto. It is about 12 miles south of Stouffville, which is basically a northeastern suburb of Toronto now, where Albert was living when he enrolled in the Canadian Expeditionary Forces.

In fact, my mother is passing just north of Stouffville as we speak, on her way from where she lives just northwest of Stouffville to have lunch with my little brother just northeast of Stouffville. ;)

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 15 Sep 2009 16:16

Residence when married..Agincourt,ontario, and they were of the Presbytarian religion.

Scott was a ,,labourer...

And I dont know why the transcriber has added Bulley onto the mothers name for Charlotte Graves,as Graves is her maiden name on the original.

If you want the original sent to you Kay you will need to PM me your email address..

I am being blocked from viewing at the moment, but with worldwide I should be able to view,so I will try to find out the problem.

Oh! So it's not the marriage and birth I was looking at. If you don't have the reg details for the marriage in the 50s, so you can get the certificate, let me know and I'll PM them.

I think I've exhausted my resources at this point, but do add the Canada reference to your title and we'll see whether we can get that Ontario marriage.

Or hm, I'll PM somebody who has Ancestry worldwide access ...
