If our George actually was a saddler - and since it's on his marriage certificate, it seems likely he was - his father wasn't necessarily a saddler, true. Many people who made up fathers when they married also assigned them their own occupation. Like ... my weird gr-gr Ernest Augustus Hill/Monck himself did!


Oh, btw - ditch that George Stanley Hunt. He did show up in 1901 in Google, with parents George Joseph and Mary Elizabeth.

but couldn't place him in 1901.


If Frederick George had had a relationship with someone else that resulted in a pregnancy started before the 1895 marriage ... (Or if the 1895 marriage is just a red herring and was someone else.)

I have followed this one in census records but he (frederick) is still at home with father (trafford) in 1901 census,
Interesting though trafford junior (15 in 1881, 36 in 1901) did have a son called george born 1896 but this does not tie-in with the fact that george's father was supposed to be called frederick!

It seems like saddler was a family trade. If you search the 1881 for Watson, occupation saddler, there are quite a few, and in particular quite a few in Lincolnshire, but also several in Nottinghamshire.

I poked away at them but couldn't see one with a son Fred*. Your Frederick would have had to be born by 1881 ...

Another snippet of info that I am not sure whether it helps is that I know he was in jail for 6 months or so in 1928 or 1929 in the Nottingham area.
If I could find anything about this would I likely get any more data (confirmationm of his date of birth perhaps?)

If he was 28 why would the cert say 29?
If he married on 3/3/1926 he would have been 29 (his 30th Birthday would have been the 23rd March 1926).

That makes him born 1898? (1897, my brain has just imploded)

He'd have been 29 2 weeks later?

So he married in his 28th year....
