Is the scottish connection really just a myth? YES

Despite having potentially traced the family back via John Barsby born in Hallaton Leics, moving to London, marrying and a approx 6 year old William on the Census of 1851, William doesn't reappear for the next census.
The key worry I have alway had is that the second Christain name of Paterson was given to William and again William Pattison Barsby born 1888. I was always lead to believe this was a scottish connection and recollect that I was told he came from Dunbar or something similar. However, since grandfather was born in the east end of London in 1888, perhaps his father was the one with scottish roots?

Yesterday I managed to have some access to the 1841 Scottish census and found a David Barsby aged 60 with a daughter in a place in Perthshire - named DUNBARNEY, is this the missing thread or merely a co incidence? any ideas from anyone
in hope - Georgie Barnes nee Barsby
the mystery is solved and their is no obvious scottish connection. William was in fact the child of one Pattison Frank , mariner of Whitby. Williams mother , Martha Burges registered him as Pattison Burges, but went on to marry John Henry Barsby and the child was baptised as William Pattison Barsby, so we are not really Barsby's after all!!
