Ann o' GG, if I do this:

Robert Seagrey Compact Disc #131 Pin #3428524 Pedigree
Sex: M
Birth: 1837
EYHOEM, SURREY
Marriage(s)
Spouse: Esther Disc #131 Pin #3428000

Will you delete that huge long post full of bumph? Scrolling through all that is just such a pain in a thread. And it also isn't the greatest idea to publish the third party's name and address here, just on principle.

Note that these are merely submitted records, and the marriage itself (which I think is known to Eileen) is in the GRO, available at FreeBMD.

I'm still doubtful that someone born 1776 is the parent of someone born c1837. That's 60 years. An intervening generation is likely.

Ancestry is such a moron. Yes, a 3-yr-old is in his own household ...

The rest of the household is:

Robert Pickett 40
Dinah Pickett 40
Emelie Pickett 15
Charles Pickett 12
Maria Pickett 5

He would be some relation, possibly but not likely a nurse child.

Oops, you edited to add, GB.

Are you in touch with the other people here at GR who have Seagrey in their trees?

For instance, a couple of other people have Esther 1870, and one other has Robert 1836 "Eyhoem" (a mistranscription on the census), and there are various of his children. Just search trees for Seagrey, no other details, if you don't know these other members.

Now that I think about it, re your other post: how likely is it that someone born c1750 was the father of someone born c1837??

You have 1800 for him in your tree, and even that might be overstating his age.

Eileen, re your new thread:

http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards.asp?wci=thread&tk=1176647

It would be best to delete that one.

You can use the "Edit" link in the lower left corner of the first post in this thread to change the heading. It would be more useful if it said something like:

Peter Seagrey c1750, Wales? son Robert 1837

or some such. ;)

Thanks for so much info. I will check these. Thank you AlanOnThe Wirral and Potty.

Potty

Potty Report 27 Aug 2009 16:35

Have you tried looking for them on the 1871/61/51 census? Or on freebmd for their births? Esther should be there; Robert might be if he was born at the end of 1837.

Just done a quick check and Robert only appears under Seagray in 1881 and 1891. Probably mistranscribed before that. POB is Egham Surrey and in 1881 they are living in Wales.

Yesterday I saw the name Rootgatherer in some answers and tried to post a question to her/ him. I don't know where the question ended up but i don't see it in any of the lists. My apologies to whoever got the question and I'd like to start again.
I have a marriage certificate for my maternal g.grandparents which gives the names of their fathers but I am stuck there and not sure how to get on.
Robert Seagrey b.1837 married Esther Hughes b.1843 in 1873.
Their fathers are Peter Seagrey and John Hughes. I'd be so grateful for a push in the right direction!
Many thanks, Eileen
