Hello all,
I am searching for the Service Number of Henry Joseph Burford.

According to Ancestry,:
Henry Joseph Burford
Birth Date: abt 1921
Age: 18
Port of Departure: La Plata, Argentina
Arrival Date: 30 Oct 1939
Port of Arrival: London, England
Ports of Voyage: La Plata and Rio de Janeiro
Ship Name: Highland Chieftain Search
Ship Database: View the 'Highland Chieftain' in the 'Passenger Ships and Images' database
Shipping Line: Royal Mail Lines Ltd Official Number: 148161

Using this information and searching the National Archives I have come across this:

Record Summary
Scope and content 148155; 148158; 148159; 148161
Covering dates 1939 Jan 01 - 1939 Dec 31
Availability Open Document, Open Description, Normal Closure before FOI Act: 30 years
Held by The National Archives, Kew

It becomes a bit confusing after this as I would like to find out what his Service Number was and whether or not they then hold any further details on him.
Has anyone requested this kind of details from them and would know what I could expect from the files.

Thanks
Paul
