stimpson/stephenson/stevenson?

Hi,
can anybody help me on this one please? trying to find any information on my gggg grandmother who i shall call Ann Stimpson for now! she was born c1801 in Besthorpe Norfolk and married my gggg grandfather Matthew Ayton in Wymondham in 1823, she had a child out of wedlock my ggg grandfather who was baptised Matthew Ayton Stimson in 1821 also in Wymondham and is listed as a singlewoman but as he is named this i presume Matthew Ayton Snr was his father?

I cannot find any baptism record for her but someone said to me that there was a surname connection between Stimpson/Stephenson/Stevenson and this would tie in as Matthew Ayton Stimson b1821 who was just known as Matthew Ayton in the 1841 and 1851 census finally changed his name to Matthew Ayton Stephenson, does anybody know where i can fnd information about this surname connection or can anyone find anything out about Ann? Any help whatsoever would be greatly appreciated as im pulling my hair out on this one!!

could this be her?
she died in Norfolk in 1880 and Matthew Snr died in 1888, the problem i have is finding her baptism record and possibly her parents so i can go further back from there also this damn surname variation which i need to fathom out on the Stimpson/Stephenson link, there was an old thread on another site saying that all Stimpsons originally stemmed from Stephenson/Stevenson but i need to find evidence on this! Any suggestions? Please!!
