Susan Report 15 Aug 2009 17:35

I am tryig to trace decendants of John W APPLEBY a gunner who married Mary jane Woodhouse nee SHAKESBY in Hull in Oct 1906. My grandma was born to Mary Jane just prior to her marriage to John and was 'given away' - she was never brought up by her mother and I am trying to find out why.

Known children of Mary and John are:
John APPLEBY b.1908
James APPLEBY b.1911
Arthur APPLEBY b.1918 - 1987
All born in Hull
Address at 1911 census was 12 Walter's Ave Nornabell St Holderness rd Hull

With them at the time were Mary Jane's other 3 children Frederick,Elsie and Bertha WOODHOUSE from Mary's first marriage to Edward WOODHOUSE.

My grandma Eva (Edith) Woodhouse was born 12 months after Edward died and 7 months before she remarried John APPLEBY. Eva was given away at 6 weeks old and brought up happily by the WEST family from HULL

Any help pr knowledge would help me to lay this to rest. Thanks
