Thanks to Glitterbabe for the information so far on Benjamin but I am still confused about the Family.
Robert c1847 was married to Isabella Mill (or Milne) c1849 and she died on 25 Feb 1872 of Puerperal Fever after the birth of Robert William on 21 Feb 1872. Benjamin was born on 19 Feb 1869 and William on 5 Jan 1871. Glitterbabe confirmed the rumour I had that Benjamin went to live with his grandparents but I have no idea of when or how he travelled to Australia although an aged grandson thinks he was told Benjamin was 16 when he arrived and went to live with a Mill/Milne in Parkes, NSW.
Similarly a descendant of the Mill/Milne family thinks she heard that Robert William went to South Africa but has no details of how or when and whether he married before or after going. I have also been unable to find any information of William other than his birth in Queensferry, West Lothian.
Did Robert (a groom) remarry and have a daughter as I have a photograph taken by Wm Tower & Sons, Artists, 42 St Patrick Square, Edinburgh of a formally dressed young teenager Benjamin alongside an equally formally dress slightly younger girl with a strong family resemblance. There is no inscription on the photo.
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated as everything I try requires a payment to view and I don't have plastic or access to other means of payment where I live.
Regards,
Reginald
