I have tried Elizabeth Read/ Reed born Glasgow, All Districts 1872-1875 and NOTHING. I GIVE UP.

I have to admit defeat on this one as nobody can find a birth for the elusive Elizabeth !!!!!!!!!!!1

I dont know if i'm going to be any help, but here goes- My gr. grandparents were GRAHAM,S her name was LAVINIA but not sure his name. They 1 son- ROBERT & daughters- MARY, JANET & MARGARET & child that died youngish, MARGARET was my grandma, she married James Gibson,&had a son James, & a daughter Isabella (my mum) & she married William McCracken(my dad) My name is Margaret Lavinia Hogg (nee McCracken) what else !!??. maybe none of this makes any sense to you, but we will never find out if we dont ask. can you please respond,if you dont mind- yay or nay !!!! 'thankyou!. regards margaret. Lavinia & ???? were born in nth.Ireland.

No clues about Elizabeth on John's marriage cert either. If you want the details let me know.

John signed Mary Jane's death certificate in 1926 so he was alive in 1891.
I assume he was not living with the family at that time.....not uncommon for a 16 yr old then.

The parents married May 1874 in Bridgeton,Glasgow

John Graham was born 31-08-1875, so Elizabeth was born before Thomas and Mary Jane married or she was born after John ??

Several possibilities....
name was registered incorrectly ie wrong surname or forname
Elizabeth was not actually her first name ie may have been her middle name but the one the family used
she wasn't born in Glasgow as stated
her approximate age is very wrong on the census
birth was not registered for some reason......it did happen

Has anyone got a logical explanation as to why a child appears on the Census but cannot be found on Births ?????

I think this name change may be a key to Elizabeth.

How can she be on the Census but not show up on "Births"

Works out she was born 1874 if her age on 1891 cencus is 17yrs so go back 2 yrs from then
