Hi Lorraine, Thankyou for your offer for lookups.
Do you think you could look at Canada for me please - here are the details:
Joseph Jones aged 44
Sarah Jones aged 44
possible children are:
David Jones aged 15
Lily Jones aged 17
Mona Jones, aged 13
Sarah Jones aged 11

This would be how old they would be on the 1911 Canadian census if they are there. They are on the UK 1901 but family folklore said they went to Canada sometime after 1901

Many thanks

Anne

Selena in South East London Report 5 Aug 2009 17:55

Hello Lorraine, thanks for the kind offer. I did put this up as a thread yesterday but no luck yet. I am looking for the following on the 1841. Thisis the 1851 in Deptford, Greenwich, kent (now London)

George Perkins, 45, stoker, born Hampstead Middx
Ann, wife, 41, born Hampstead
John, son 14, labourer
Sarah, 12, born Deptford, Kent
Mary, 12, born deptford
Fanny, 9, deptford
Charles, 5, deptford
Harriet, age 2

They are sometimes mistranscribed as Parkins. There is a possibility that George was in prison in Maidstone, Kent at some point. His wife Ann is down as a widow on 1861 Deptford but there is a line crossed though.

Any help is appreciated, Thank you,

Selena

debbie

death cert details are usually given by next of kin who sometimes do not know all the facts and if someone lied about their it could continue, at 16 lucy would have needed her parents permission to marry so maybe she also added on years to marry, I think more checks are done for marriages than years ago. If lucy was only 16 and henry 32 he probably took years off and she added them on due the large age gap.

my grandmother was married under her mothers married even though she was born when her mother was unmarried, and never changed her named legally.

I will take another look at the family tree info if you want me to pass on a message to the tree holder pm me your email and i will pass it on.

Debbie

Debbie Report 3 Aug 2009 17:27

Hi Lorraine,

Thank you for that...do you know who's tree the info was on....Frederick George Aldridge 1900 -1957 is my G Grandfather, (he was also a Merchant Seaman)...The only thing that i am having trouble with is Lucy had only turned 16 when she married and on her marriage cert she has put down 19.....Henry Aldridge has his age as 25, but if he is the same HG Aldridge as the one you found his age should of been 30, and he would of been 39 when he died although his death cert says 32. Do you reckon he told a few porkies as well????? That s Lucy with her family in 1891 and 1881.

Thanks

Debbie

This is quite a long time ago, but I would love to know the date that my great aunt went to America - some time between the wars - and if possible when and where she died. There is a family legend about her life in America which I should like to be able to check.

Her name was Rose or possibly Rosemary Trimmer, or Rose may have been her second name, but it was the one she was called. She was born near Alton, Hampshire, and it seems went to America as a Ladies Maid, or companion possibly. I think she died in around the '50s. She never came back to England. She used to send my mother (her niece) food parcels and these still continued after the war while we still had rationing over here.........she also sent a pretty party frock and some childrens' books for me. I was born in 1944, but can remember the parcels still arriving in the early 50's.
