Hi Loraine
Sorry I need some help again, could you please check the UK passenger list 1878-1960 for me, I am trying to trace an Arthur John Pearson born about 1888 in Shanghai, China. I have found:
Arthur John Pearson, UK Incoming Passenger list 1878-1960, arrival London
He does appear in London on the 1891 census (age 4) with his mother Annie Pearson, so he may have arrived sometime round this year.
If there are any other Pearsons on the same ship I would be very interested in that and/or the names Annie Lillian Williams and Mary Williams. many many thanks Vicki

Thanks again Lorraine
I think that is probably her - it's the same ship as Tytus and the age is right.
I've been trying to look at Ancestry's Canadian Passenger lists. A David L Read arrives in Canada in, I think, 1920, but I can't access the details. Could you have a look for me?
Thanks for all your help,
Sarah

Hi Loraine
Thanks for looking. I'm afraid I know nothing about this side of the family, other than names from photos and the census records, and little tit bits of info passed down through the generations which has probably been distorted along the way.
All I know is Mabel Pearson was born in 1880 in Shanghai, she is on the 1891 census as being in Anglesey with her Aunt Mary Thomas, and sister Ada Pearson, and 2 half sisters Lillie and Mary Williams. I know their mother returned to Anglesey or Cheshire around 1901, so had assumed the children had done as well. I guess now Mabel and sisters did not stay in the UK, after 1891 and possibly went back to Shanghai, maybe this is where she married? The family talk is her and this Richie (Richard?) Stanley settled in America but as to where and when I dont know.
Many thanks for having a look for her though, your time is appreciated.

Hi Lorraine
I hope you don't mind me asking for more help. I tried looking for Winifred Skirsyk in the Canadian Passenger lists and found a Winiford Skizzyk arriving in Quebec in 1919. I'm wondering if it is her but I can't access the records. As Tytus was in the army then I guess they may have travelled separately to Canada. Also, if it is her there's an outside chance that her brother David Read travelled with her, though I can't see an obvious entry. He was in the Royal Marines so it is possible he worked his passage to Canada.
Also, my Aunt thinks that Tytus and Winifred left Canada for the States after a few years. Is there any record of this?
Many thanks for your help,
Sarah

Hi Loraine You kindly tried to find one of my ancestors on the US census, and I now have another very vague request, not sure you will be able to do anything with such little information but thought it might be worth a shot.
I am trying to trace what happened to a Mabel Pearson born 1880 in Shanghai. I have her on the 1891 census in Angelsey, Wales. All I know about her is she apparently married a Richie Stanley and they moved to the US.
Vague I know, I assume she married around 1895 and have failed to find her on the UK records, can you help any
Thanks
Vicki

Thanks Lorraine that's really helpful. It does look like he went to the States
We didn't know Tytus was in the army - we thought he was a refugee.
Do you have any idea what this bit means? Relative: Natay Relationship: Brother
Thanks again, you are very generous with your time.

Thanks for looking Lorraine. This family is so frustrating.
It's a long shot but if you have time can you look for him in Canada? His service record says New York but his sister Winifred Read married a Ukranian Tytus Skirsyk (that is how it is spelt on the wedding certificate but I guess it may vary) and went to Canada so I guess he could have gone there instead.
Many thanks
Sarah
