I am trying to find more about Alan Kitson. He features in the 1861 census although ancestry.co.uk lists him as 'Ann Ritson' in their listing. It is clear from the census document that he is Alan Kitson, aged 28 (ie born in 1833 in Manchester). At the time of the census he is listed as a builder's clerk living in Chorlton upon Medlock. He is living with the Matthews family who are his step-family. This would make his mother Ann Matthews (maiden name Burslam who was previously married to John Kitson, 1807-1835- a stonemason). I know that he also has a brother John Kitson (1833-1879) who was variously described as a book keeper and later became a teacher. Any more information or indication of documents about Alan Kitson would be gratefully received. Thanks in advance. |
