I am trying to find out how and when my ancestors got to Ireland, i can trace the Jackmans there from the present day back to around 1790 but no further, i think there may be at least two further generations but i would love to know how they got there and from where i cannot find any links with England, i have two cousins with opinions, one says we were always Irish and our correct name is Seac the other believes we went over from England to Kilkenny with the Butlers [ lords of ossory ] as mercenaries in the 1500's, does anybody have any views on migrations such as this? |
