I wonder if someone would be kind enough to look up some information for me on my relative John Vincent - he was born in 1889 in Barrow-in-Furness. His parents were Patrick and Margaret (Toner) who originally came from Ireland though were resident in Barrow-in-Furness. John (Jack) spent a great deal of time in both Canada and USA - though we are not exactly sure what he did when he was over there. I believe he claimed some land in Canada (??~1910??) and tried to farm there for a while before giving that up to go to New York to drive.

What I have been able to find are some records of him coming home on some trips.

The first trip I can find is in 1926 although he must have gone out before this (to Canada?)

3 August 1926 from New York to Liverpool on board the Laconia - the address he gives is 15 Anson Street, Barrow-in-Furness. He gives his profession as Chauffeur.
1st Nov 1926 - Back to US

Next trip is 29 May 1929 from New York to Liverpool on board the Adriatic - visiting 72 Melbourne Street, Barrow-in-Furness
26th Aug 1929 - Back to US

Any mention of John Vincent in 1930 Census?
I am missing trip details from US to UK in 1932
29th Nov 1932 - Back to US

Final trip(? he indicated in the records he was moving back to England) was in 27th August 1934 from New York to Liverpool on board the Scythia.

So he was a pretty amazing guy but what did he do over there?? Any more information you could provide as to his movements in USA/Canada would be gratefully appreciated.

Best wishes

Richard
