Hi Susan,
I think we need to 'step back' here and see what it is you REALLY want to find??? - Otherwise, you could spend a fortune on all these certs and not get any further !!.
We now know that your grandparents were John Hogan + Gertrude Shea !
We know that John was probably born in Wigan and that he had a brother Daniel and his father was also Daniel - married to Sarah Ann (possibly Wilkinson). - also born in Wigan?? - mother Alice Wilkinson, sister Margaret Wilkinson
Daniel's + John's father was also Daniel, born in Durham around 1862 and he had a sister called Annie who married Dominic Daley. (I think she was also born in Wigan??)
I think you should list everything out like this and add them to your more recent relatives, take a look at what you have and see what it is you REALLY want to find.
Have a think and come back on here - there is a lot of info which we can link together but you need to 'get yourself sorted' first??

Thank you Dea, i really appreciate what you and Sablon have done for me. the one thing i would really love is to find my grandfathers birth details so that i can have his birth certificate. That would make my search for the Hogan family complete. Great grandparents would be a bonus but i'm more than happy to stop at grandparents. Thinking that he was from Ireland i had resigned myself to the fact that i would never find him. Its made me feel quite emotional really. I hadn't know any family on either side and now its beginning to feel real.
I'm also going to meet my half brother in a few weeks time he's a very long way so this is probably going to be the only chance but it will be lovely to show him what has been found.
Sue

O.K. then - what you REALLY want is the birth cert for the John Hogan who married Gertrude Shea ???
Let's concentrate on that then!
Have to go and do 'the wifey cooking thing' soon so I will take a fresh look at it later ! (Good job he's been out as I have been on here ALL day !!- tee hee)!

Thanks Sablon,
Sue is in luck - Daniel married Mary in Wigan - she was his second wife but there is a little confusion on the name.
I have to 'do things' this morning so perhaps you could see if you can come up with anything on this? - There might be something on IGI ??

We need to find a marriage for Mary to Mr Boyle or Boylan, plus a death for husband No. 1 ???
I can't follow it till later.
