I been trawling the birth records this morning, been up for hours!!!
I went back to 1910 when gertrude would have been 16 so looked for Shea nothing as far as i could see.
Then tried Sowden after she married in 1914 and found i possible child Fredrick b. 1915 ( mother's name Shea). I had though that maybe 1911 census may show where she was living around that time, what do you think?

Hi Sablon. you probably don't remember me but you were very helpful in searching for 2 of my mum's brothers (May 25th) Well just to let you know that i have recieved the birth certificate from the info you found and it is indeed the right Terence Hogan. So a big thank you. I still can find no trace of "Jackie" Hogan but did look for a child from her previous marriage as you suggested and found a Federick Sowden as to whether this is Jackie i'm afraid i'll never know. i have great respect for you and others who can do this so easily. I think i've come to a dead end now as i can't find a birth record for my grandfather.
So thank you for all your help it was very much appeciated . Sue

Hi Sablon thanks for your reply and advice, i'm finding my way around slowly!!! I have John Hogans marriage certificate and it only gives his age and father's name no place of birth unfortunatly. His place of birth would open so many doors but there is no way of finding out i'm afraid. Doing this has made me realise how important it is to keep any old papers, documents photos etc and to talk to other family members about your life. Regards Sue.

Wow thank you so much , i've written it all down and now going to go through it slowly. Maybe he wasn't born in Ireland, or it could be he came over as a young child. Will definatly let you know what i find.
You are a star, i've taken up so much of your time today but its all very much appreciated. Sue.
