I am unable to find this part of the family in 1871 or 1861.
Isabel 1869 was the eldest child and became samuels wife.
I have every other census on this pullen/sadgrove family.
Isabel and thomas pullen married in 1868 and should therefore be together on 1871with baby isabel ,,,where??
And I am also unable to find thomas james pullen in 1861,he is not with his parents or anywhere else I have searched.
All and any help welcome for these two census returns.
THANKS

I have had Samuels sons birth cert from ireland today.
In 1911 he was a Lieutenant and quartermaster in the Royal Irish Regiment at Ashfield Kilkenny.
Just thought you would like to know that
AND that his wife was def Isabel Pullen.

But can I find his ww1 records ,can I heck.
Because he was an officer would he be on nationalarchives instead I wonder?if they survived the blitz of course.
Or as he was in an irish reg would they be in Ireland?

Thank you Linda for that further info,my word you are a veritable "Tas devil" when it comes to Tas research.
There is but one thing now that I would really like to know and then I think that I will have the most filled out history that I can get on this lot, courtesy of you and Lorraine.

When did emma maria harris ,nee reeves, die?
Or have you already found that and I have missed it?

OK, john harris widower/shoemaker b 1810 married sarah east, widow aged 51 in new norfolk in 1861. Sarah then died of heart disease in 1865. No offpsring to them then, BUT. John died in 1893 and his death was reported by the supt of police. Death confirmed with shoemaker, john died of senile decay? None of the other marriages I checked had an occupation for john, so unable to verify that, and the two I was hoping for hav john as a convict (to mary groom in 1832), and bachelor to eliza mccreedy, also in 1832. So, no closer to finding out where john came from I'm afraid. I also couldn't find any births to john/eliza to match fathers occ, and the only ones to a possible mary, were a yeoman, corndealer and farmer. Drats!! Linda :)

thank you.

Thank you so much for all this extra info, hoping.
You really are worth your wieght in gold.
I will print it all off and sit and digest it in the morning as it is quite late here.

I thought that millicent burts record said larceny but wasnt certain,so its nice to have it confirmed.
Wonder what the 2 of them stole?
I presume that her and mary did it together as they were convicted and transported together.
But if they were sisters, which seems very likely,at least they had each other for support in such awful conditions, and all the fear of what they would find at the end of the voyage.
All I can say is that they were very strong women I would think.

OK, back to the harris's. There are two marriages for a John Harris around 1830's and the most likely is to a mary groom in Hobart in 1832. This is the only one that appears to have produced offspring (although the records state mary unknown) so shall try and check those out next time I'm in town and if John is a shoemaker then I think we can take it that he's our man. Not that it'll give us any info as to his birthplace. But witnesses etc may help. I was lucky enough once to find a marriage that had taken place at the grooms parents home, and from that worked out that he was born in Yorkshire, fingers crossed. Linda :)

Millicent was transported for larceny, along with (it looks like) her sister mary burt. So she''s single b 1817 and tried in Devon. John's record says single and then further along say's widower?

There are STACKS of John Harris on the New South Wales, Australia, Unassisted Immigrant Passenger Lists, 1826-1922

If he is in that list then there is no image available for them.

So what do I ask for if I ask for a passage look up ??
I have searched all the poss sites on ancestry for him going out, where next?

Millicent got her free cert on 7 may 1852,but I cant read what she was transported for,the writing is really scrawley.
So daughter Emma was born while they were still convicts.

Ho Ho Ho.
The irony of it.
Emma was the convicts daughter, and samuel her son married a very wealthy solicitors daughter!
Hot footing it to Tasbmd now.

Who am I looking for on shipping records again?
Millicent burt, john reeves and john harris shoemaker?

I recieved a birth cert for a burt {1868} from wittersham kent today, wonder if it might be the same family that millicent came from?
Thats for another day to look at though.
