Stories of Emigrants to Australia

For anyone interested,

They are building what is called the “Immigration Bridge” in Canberra, Australia over the next couple of years. It’s about a 400 metre long walking bridge over part of Lake Burley Griffin, costing about $30 Million. A large portion of the cost is being raised by placing stainless steel panels along both sides of the walk-way next to the hand-rails. The stainless steel panels will be engraved with about 200,000 names of people that emigrated to Australia. There is a cost of $110.00 to add someone’s name as an emigrant to the panels.

In addition, stories of people who emigrated to Australia are being added by family members to a large bound book. The book will be in a glass viewing cabinet for people to read and will have a different page turned every day. The book and stories will also be published on the Internet. The stories that have been added to date can be searched & viewed on the “Immigration Bridge” Web-site – Link below. People searching for family members may find it interesting.
