On the 1911 census my grandparents, my great grandmother and two daughters, 4 and 2 (my mother) were living in one room in St Stephen's Sq, Southwark. I know that some other members had family living in St Stephen's Sq, so I thought that they may be interested in this book which you can download as a PDF file "Twelve years in Kent Street."

The author was vicar at St Stephen's Church and describes the area as one of the poorest in London with many families crowded into one room as my grandparents were.

Kent Street is now Tabard Street.

There is discussion about this on the London SE1 forums in case anyone is interested. http://www.london-se1.co.uk/forum/read/1/70066/page=1
