Hardy birth in Newcastle - u - T

Would be grateful if any Geordies out there could do a lookup for me.
The 1851 Census lists Thomas Hardy and his wife Sarah living in Clapham. Also listed is their daughter Elizabeth M Hardy aged 18 and remarkably born in Northumberland, Newcastle.
This is only remarkable since our family have hitherto confined their births to the south, mainly in London and the South West.
Thomas was a clerk in an Ecclesiastical Office so may have worked for a member of the clergy posted to Newcastle?
Any info would be gratefully received, her birth would have occurred around 1833?
Thank you to anyone who is able to help, i would be delighted to reciprocate if asked.
