could some one help me find my gr gr grandfather Joseph Elliott, He was living in Stanwix, Carlisle (Eden Town?)in 1863 when my gr grandfather John Williamson Elliott was born, J W elliotts' birth certificate says that Joseph Elliott was a woolen draper, I have been told that the
elliotts' in my family came from Langholm, but I have no confirmation of this, Joseph Elliotts' wife (my gr gr grandmother)was Sarah Elliott nee Williamson, she was born in Warburton Cheshire, I tracked the family down oin the 1881 census, living in Moore in
cheshire, she was widowed at this time, I would love to know where My gr gr grandfather came from, also when he died, in the 1881 census is another mystery, my gr gr grandmother sarah was a child nurse she had a boy living with her,who was 2 years old(known as a nurse child, and in the 1891 census he had at some time, been adopted by her, who was he? and where did he come from? I think ,his surname is the same as my gr gr grandmothers maiden name, his name was William D Williams or Williamson ( I think they couldn't fit the whole name on the census) If any one could help I will be very gratefull, as this has been extremely frustrating for more than a year. many thanks to whoever can help me.
