Well I am sorry Sean but I cant find any conections there at all.
You will have to get on to your mother to ry and remember more about this lucy.
And did you ever look at the image on the 1911 census for charles atkinson with mother gertrude?
Maybe it will tell you if they had more children on there and if they died.

Evie's gone, you'll have to make do with me.

I think Mistycat may be on to something.

Gertrude admitted to being a year older than her groom when she married. It's not at all unimaginable that she was really older than that, and just not letting on.

(My gr-grf's sister did that when she married in 1875. Said she was 19, just like her groom. That's how I missed finding her birth in the untranscribed images -- looked all the way back to first quarter 1855, which would have made her 20 in July 1875 when she married. Turns out she was born last quarter 1874 [strike it, strike it: 1854], making her closer to 21 than 19.)

I think Mistycat could definitely be onto something.

But if that's her in 1901, she made a shift to Durham at some point. But then, the 1911 census does give her birthplace as Norfolk, so our Gertrude did make that shift.

As for the father being reported deceased on the marriage certificate but apparently dying much later ... I might not put too much stock in the marriage cert.

But ... actually, I think Mistycat just lighted on the wrong death!

Deaths Sep 1902
Mace Edward 55 Yarmouth 4b 22

The 1901 census has him aged 54 in Yarmouth. So that death is actually a perfect match!

Not stupid
Good sideways thinking on what she was doing so far from home more like.
And well done on the Gertrude mace and father Edward job.
And thanks to Janey for sorting out the death of edward so it looks like you def have the correct family for her.

Somebody come up with Winifred's surname so we don't have to dive back into it ... but I think the idea was that Charles knew his LucyLou while growing up ...
