Oh dear, I'm just one of those lazy layabout menopausal housewives. I didn't just earn a few hundred pounds working overnight at the highly skilled and stressful professional job I do at my keyboard when I am not taking a break to play with other people's genealogy.

You just have a lot more friends than I do, I guess.

I see that you now always say thank you, and I know from the message you sent me exactly what you think of other GR members. They are here for your use -- obviously because they just have such empty boring lives that they just love looking things up for you.

Um, seriously, Sam.

I just did an Advanced Search for the word "thanks" and the member name TelegramSam.

I got 34 results -- *34 requests* posted by you starting on New Year's Day. (I dunno, maybe it only gave me this year.)

If you're going for a record, I think you can stop now. You've won.

So seriously. *Are* these all your ancestors??

EvieBeavie Report 19 Mar 2009 10:11

There is a Holland-Drawbridge birth in 1924, the year after the Holland-Cottingham marriage.

The only Holland-Cottingham birth is in 1915.

There is no Holland-Drawbridge marriage.

That took about two minutes to figure out.

"I believe that George died in the 1st vWW"

http://www.cwgc.org/debt_of_honour.asp?menuid=14

The record names Annie E M Cottingham as his wife, so the answer as to whether George died in WWI seems rather obvious.

There you go. Yet another resource, free to access and easy to use by the general public, that you now know about.

So Sam -- any estimate of how many ancestors you have left for us to find?

These are all your ancestors, right?

You probably already have this, but just in case, this would seem to be Annie in 1901 which gives you her fathers name and occupation:-

Name: Annie Drawbridge
Age: 12
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1889
Relation: Daughter
Father's Name: William
Mother's Name: Annie J
Gender: Female
Where born: Burwash, Sussex, England

Civil Parish: Burwash
County/Island: Sussex
Country: England

Street address: can't make it out

Occupation: (father) Grinder at the Flour Mill

Registration district: Ticehurst
Sub registration district: Ticehurst
ED, institution, or vessel: 11
Neighbors: View others on page
Household schedule number: 74
Household Members:
Name Age
William Drawbridge 45 born: Goudhurst, Kent
Annie J Drawbridge 43 born: Horsham, Sussex
Charles Drawbridge 19
Percy Drawbridge 16
Frantz Drawbridge 14
Annie Drawbridge 12
Ellen Drawbridge 10
Otto Drawbridge 2

Have checked freebmd can see only one Elizabeth E M Drawbridge also, so you could be correct but why go back to her maiden name?

Catherine Report 19 Mar 2009 09:31

The other marriage:-

Marriages Sep 1918 (>99%)
<<Drawbridge Annie E M (Shanly) Lewisham 1d 2364
Gardiner Alice Richardson Lewisham 1d 2364
<<Shanly Edward M (Drawbridge) Lewisham 1d 2364

Sorry, can't see any births for this couple for the moment!

Catherine, there does not seem to be another Annie E M Drawbridge about, well not on Free bmd.

I will have a look on Genes and see if Arthur Holland is on here,

Thanks for your help,

Yes you are right Catherine but i thought the 1918 marriage of a Annie E M Drawbridge again was tooo much of a coincidence. There is a marriage in 1923 on Free bmd for a Annie E Cottingham to a Arthur Holland.I wonder if this is her?
I was trying to find children of Mr Edward Shanly also,

Regards...Sam

Catherine

Catherine Report 19 Mar 2009 09:09

This could be her second marriage:-

Marriages Sep 1923 (>99%)
Cottingham Annie E (Holland) Ticehurst 2b 239
Holland Arthur (Cottingham) Ticehurst 2b 239

If you know the name of Annie's father and his profession, then you could check that with this cert. to see if it is the correct one.

Can't see any children for this couple.

Catherine

Catherine Report 19 Mar 2009 09:05

for ref:-
Marriages Mar 1915 (>99%)
<<<Cottingham George R Drawbridge Ticehurst 2b 201
<<<Drawbridge Annie E M Cottingham Ticehurst 2b 201
Eastwood George F Filmer Ticehurst 2b 201
Filmer Elizabeth A Eastwood Ticehurst 2b 201

Births Mar 1916
Cottingham Ellen M (Drawbridge) Ticehurst 2b 160

Surely as she married, Annie's name would now be Cottingham, so you should be looking for a marriage for Annie Cottingham?
