I just wanted to say a big thank you to those who replied to my post last week and pointed me in the right direction.

I started off with virtually nothing but a name on my father's birth certificate and from that you guys helped me get the marriage certificate, trace a birth certificate etc and now I have all my grandfathers details, his siblings, parents, grandparents etc and managed to get in touch with a cousin on this site.

I can't thank you guys enough as within a week of really hard researching, Ive got nearly all the answers I need and a chance to meet family we thought lost forever.

BTW, I am not finished my searching however I do have a few more months worth of basic credit on Ancestry.co.uk if anyone needs a search doing.
