birth of my grandfather

please please can anybody help i have been trying to find with no success the birth of my grandfather i know from his military records that he was born in 1872 in the parish of poplar in london middlesex i have searched ancestry genes reunited i have even tried the free sites with no luck the albert schact that comes up were born in 1898 or 1899 one of them are my uncle |

The only mention of that surname I can find on Ancestry between 1870 and 1875 is for a Charles Schact living in Lincolnshire. |

Could he have been bought up by other people.If his parents had died there was no legal adoptions then but perhaps someone else bought him up and changed his name?Just a thought Annie |

There is an Ernest Schact c1871 on the 1901 census and in 1891 he is named Ernest A, perhaps the A stood for Albert. |

hi ozbird i have quite a bit of his army record he joined in1886 at the age of 14 then it tells you where he was born later it tells when and where he was married then the chidren he had and when he moved to army quarters i know i have the right albert schacht because of my dad and his brothers and sisters although some of them i don't remember |
