I've sent you a pm, Evelyn. It was my OH who went as I'm stuck in Inverness - literally, as my car is stuck fast in the frozen snow. |

Woody thank you so much for going to Fort George, were you told the same as me, that the relevant records had been destroyed by fire. |

4 more phone calls later to Scotland and Kerry is going to try again tomorrow by asking the people at NA Scotland to search the registers that she is not able to access , I know there is something there for him as I was read some of it over the phone in a call to them a couple of weeks back, but then got the run around all over the rest Of Scotland ! |

Finally managed to get to Fort George but nothing there about a Robert MacLeod, of any rank. So another dead end. I did leave my details so they said they'd check some lists so I suppose it's a slim chance. |

Aw, thanks Joy! It was lovely to meet you also! We saw a lot of Liverpool but also missed stuff. Just the month after we were all there, there was an exhibition of Slavery. That would have been very interesting as well. |

I know you said she went to school in Stornoway but if perchance her father was stationed at Fort George, then perhaps she went to school in Ardersier for a little while. |

Mach a seo (get out of here), perhaps? Or if she wanted you to be quiet - Duin do bheul? I'll see if I can find some Gaelic on you tube, that might give you an idea. |

Mother always sounded a bit uppercrust and always gave the impression that she had married below her station, Dad was a proper Londoner very witty , she always had a look of disgust on her face whenever he told a joke |

More likely to be gaelic there was nothing Indian about her, she was a vey short (4ft 10 ) lady and weighed about 61/2 stone had a pale complexion quite snobby in attitude |
