Back again - to the smell of burning onions!

What I meant was, the Gerard Lemmens on Genes was born in Surabaya..............how coincidental is that?

Back later.

I have put a picture of Diane and Evelyn on the Photo bit of the home page of GR.

I,m on a roll.
Charles Edward Alexander Macleod married Edith Ann Budd 1898 Brighton.
They had 3 children bapt Kensington Alexander Cameron 19.4.1900
Douglas Hamilton 1.7.1901 & John LESLIE. 27.6.1903.
Charles father was Alexander Macleod b Skye abt 1818. He was a physician & surgeon major.
Charles was born in Italy
Ewan b 1868 India
Roderick b 1869 India
Annie D M b 1870 Nottingham.
Also a Flora b abt 1852 India married a Tripp. Widowed by 1891 & living Lambeth. Charles is with her & shown as being born Brindisi Italy.
In 1881 Alexander & the younger children were living Hawthorn Villas, Severnside, Shrewsbury.
Also in Shropshire (Worthen) were Rev Donald John Forbes Macleod aged 52, his wife Mary 54 b Canada, Alexa M Macleod 26 b Canada & Margaret Macleod 24 b Canada.
Donald died 30.4.1896, leaving a substantial estate for a clergyman (2553.13s 4d ) to his wife.
During her life Alexa who appears not to have married, returned from Montreal 20.6.1922,& Surabaya, Indonesia 30.6.1928. Think she also went to Argentina.
Can´t find a Robert among this lot, but do you think it´s possible that Diane skipped a generation when she gave the details of her father´s employment?
Don´t know which regiment Alexander was with, but he was a major & several of his children were born in India.
Clutching at straws here.

Good one Quoy! That more or less tell us what happened to Donald and Murdo. Let's hope you hear back from Gerard.

As for Donald Trump.......er.....I think I'll leave that to you :-D

Quoy

Quoy Report 26 Sep 2011 11:00

Perhaps we ought to ask Donald Trump to help

Donald Trump is a son of Fred Christ Trump and wife Mary Anne MacLeod (of Stornoway, Scotland), who married in 1936

His mother, the late Mary Anne MacLeod was born in the village of Tong, and brought up in a small, unassuming pebble-dashed house. Later, she was to marry Mr Trump's father Fred, a property developer, when she visited New York.

From Ancestry message boards

Anyone who may have known my step-grandfather, my aunt would appreciate information. She says, "My Dad's name was Donald Stanley McLeod. He died, we think, in 32. He would have been born in the late l890s, as he was only in his 30s. He died in Ramsey Co. Hosp. (Minnesota) He was a licensed chauffer a Shriner. He came from Scotland as a boy , first to Canada later
to the states." He was part of the family for only a short time, but his daughter and her family would like to find more of their family. If you can help, please reply. Thanks.

and a reply

We have a Donald Stamley Macleod on my wife's family tree :

Donald Stanley Macleod , born 1890 Tarbat Manse , Parish of Rockfield, Rosshire

His brother Murdo John Macleod emigrated to South Australia and we just received his descendants !

Regards from England,
Gerard Lemmens

These posts are from 2009 but I have sent a contact message just incase they are still members

Good morning one and all.

Jan, the details re the nursing records are on page 42 - I think the LMA was included.

Mary - the names which Fans checked on the 1911 are on page 41 - Wick and Caithness ring a bell but the one Fans found was too old?

Wisechild, that is the will which Fans sent for but it lead to a 'dead' end....if you'll pardon the pun! Sorry about that!

Quoy - I'm totally befuddled with how many MacLeods there were in the Seaforth Highlanders - it's possible that connection has been looked at but Fans would know better than me - it may be worth checking back on the 'military' pages I've mentioned above.

Very grateful for all thoughts, ideas, suggestions and goodwill which goes on on this thread. One day Evelyn.......one day......we may just crack it!

Don´t know about this will.

Robert Macleod 14 Battery Park Stornoway.
Died 7.3.1917 in Liverpool
Probate granted London 28.1.1918 to Catherine Macleod Mackinnon.
Any chance this could be Aunt Kate???

Diane would have been about 14 at the time of the death .
Maybe that´s where the private income came from.
Also found a possible link with Liverpool.
Murdoch Macleod of Borich, Clifton Drive, Lytham
died 22.3.1913. Probate London 9.4.1913 to Edward Wright & William Barr
Estate 7722/2/7d.
Haven´t looked any further as I ran out of time yesterday.
