Find Ancestors

Looking back (via dear old google), I see that we were looking at the possibility of Emerentiana being Diana back in January of 2014.....

Okay, so what do we do now? Do we revisit school registers? Suggestions welcome please.

on the previous page I posted absolutely everything I could find about that John Francis Leslie and his wife Thereza de Silva - their marriage, their children's births and some of the children's marriages, and Thereza's death - but there was nothing on Emerentiana (which of course would be the case if she became someone else - or simply if Indian records are not available as late as would be needed!)

that is still as far as I have been able to get

incoming passenger lists are useless as children are so often just listed as 'Miss' or 'Master' or 'Child' if even that (Mrs so-and-so and 2 children ...)

when is the 1921 census to be available? :-)


edit - I did a search at familysearch for just the name Emerentiana with nothing else and found it very popular among nuns :-)

so I googled it ... she was a Roman martyr

searching for the name there in India shows a handful of records, the name seems to have been most popular in the Portuguese community (Emerentiana Monica Leslie's mother was de Silva)

Hi.....sorry for the delay...just catching up.

I have had a message from Evelyn.

She says that her mother told so many fibs that anything is possible. Sometimes she said her birthday was in May and sometimes in June. She remains extremely grateful for all the help she has received.

I quite like the thought of this clue.........can we take it any further?

Cynthia was going to pass on the Emerentiana theory to Evelyn to see what she thought.

I wonder what her opinion was?

It sounds like a plausible theory to me!

I guess nobody liked my idea of Emerentiana Leslie

and / or the possibility that McLeod was the surname of the (possibly related) family that took Diane in but Leslie was her own family name ... or could have been her natural father's name ...

although I'm sure that possibility has been mulled over somewhere in this record breaking thread :-D

Emerentiana's dob was 23 May 1906 ... does anybody remember off hand when Diane celebrated her birthday?

That's the tree we looked at a couple of weeks ago isn't it? Maybe it's worth doing a bit more digging on it though, because of the names and dates.
