Oh thank you Carol you have got me weighed up, Im just a giddy kipper, I do mean well and would never intentionally upset anyone. I wish you all well, all I want to do is find my roots before I hang up my clogs. |

Sorry, of course it was her marriage cert - so many posts on here I didn't look back through all of them! I mean that finding out about him would hopefully lead to where she was born at least, which would make searching easier. His records might also give his wifes name. Doesn't matter about Seaforth Highlanders records going up in smoke - his records may well be available elsewhere. The medal card doesn't tell us anything apart from medal entitlement and it might not be the same man anyway. |

hi annielaurie we are just going round in circles? we don't know if he was who he is said to be? it's only hearsay although from a good source? evelyn has visited the fort and the museum of the seaforths all info destroyed in fire, he was deceased by 1929 but cannot find him any where if the archives are about him can we prove it, evelyn knows as said before he was deceased by 1929 but did he die in the war or after? |

I have seen my mothers marriage certificate and it gives her father as Robert Macleod , Major Seaforth Highlanders ,deceased. |

His daughter said he was a Major. Her birth cert apparently says he was in the Seaforth Highlanders, so this would seem an obvious thing to check, as it's the only info we have on him. |

If you want to know where her father was at the time of her birth, you need to look at his service records which may tell you. They will be at the National Archives. I think this is the 3RD time I've said this with no acknowledgement |
