Trying to trace D.O.B and mothers name of my Grandad John William Oldroyd. Born 1886 (give or take 1 year) in Batley, West Yorks. Father was George Oldroyd who came to Stalybridge to work as a stonemason, He was a widower with 2 children Louisa and John William but later remarried to Ellen Thornley St Pauls church Stalybridge. They went on to have a child together named Harriet, she in turn married Orlando Morton and had 6 children. John William oldroyd married Sarah Jane Leigh and they had 5 children. Louisa married Joseph Walmsley and had 6 children. I have only just started on my family history and any information at all would be much appreciated. |
