information about (pensioner) convict guards

Can anyone suggest where I might find out about a convict guard? I have found George Moore in the 1841 census on board the hulk York in Gosport. He then seems to 'disappear' along with his wife in 1851 to reappear with her in 1861. I wondered if he might have been on one of the convict ships and although there is plenty of info / lists about the convicts I have not had any luck finding any lists naming the guards. Any suggestions most gratefully received.
