ARTHUR POOLE

Harry Report 27 Feb 2009 18:33

My grandfather was Arthur Poole, born in Weardley near Wetherby North Yorkshire, in 1891.
In 1919 he left to go to work and was never to be seen again by his wife and five children, the youngest was three weeks old.

He may have emigrated to join one/two of his brothers, or he may have had five more children by another women and was still living in England ! I suspect the latter.

On his (first ?) marriage certificate he put his year of birth as 1887 (it was 1891 ) and his occupation as "Motor fitter" and "Game Keeper" and his father was "deceased" this was also untrue.
Brothers names are; James, Albert, William, Fred, George, John, and he had two sisters Ellen and Emma, most lived around Hemsworth, Leeds, Wetherby, Harrogate and Keighley areas.

On some of his siblings birth certificates the surname Poole had no 'E' on the end.
Any information on him after 1919 or tips on how to find him would be gratefully received !

Latest information I have is that Arthur left home to live with another women who already had a couple of children.

Harry.
