Hi Catherine
Thank you so, so much for all of your help.
My nan's name was Agnes Howsego, she was born on 26 October 1926, my great uncle was her brother and his name is George, he was born around 1932. Their father (Frederick and Emily's son) was also called George Howsego. He was born in 1903 and died in 1937.

What was your nan's name and date of birth? Was your Great Uncle your nan's brother and was his name?
With a name like Howsego you can expect to have lots of spelling mistakes so keep an open mind on any findings!

Hi
I have got Frederick and Emily's marriage certificate. They were married on Christmas day 1898. At the time it says he was 20, which means he was born around 1878 and Emily was 18 which means she was born around 1880. Fredericks father was called George and Emilys father was called David.
I did look back on other census, but they never seem to appear, even on 1901 there is no trace of them! so annoying :)
Thank you

If you buy Frederick and Emily's marriage certificate it will give you Frederick's age so you can work out his date of birth. It will also give you his fathers name and occupation and names of witnesses which may help to find him in earlier census records.

Thank you so much for replying, the information you gave me is correct and the right family.
One thing that is confusing me is that on the 1911 census Emily is listed as a widow, but Frederick didn't die until late 1923, so they were obviously separated, but she was married again before he died and I cant find any record of a divorce?
I need to look into the additional Howsego family you listed. I am finding it so difficult to find anything because my nan was a Howsego and sadly she died when I was young, but sadder still her father was obviously a Howsego and he died when she was just 8, so not a lot of information on that side of the family is known at all. I only have one Howsego left in my whole family, a great uncle in his 70s and he is desperate for any info, hence why I am searching for him.
Thanks again

There were also these from W.Ham:- Births Sep 1900 (>99%) Howsego Rosina Susan W. Ham 4a 186a Births Dec 1902 (>99%) HOWSEGO Frances Louisa W. Ham 4a 161 Births Mar 1904 (>99%) HOWSEGO Celia Florence E W. Ham 4a 189
so maybe two familys?
found this in the deaths:- Deaths Dec 1901 (>99%) Howsego Rosina Susan 1 W. Ham 4a 74 Deaths Mar 1903 (>99%) Howsego Frances Louisa 0 W. Ham 4a 57
so two of the girls died in infancy, so maybe the same family only never spoken about?
Are you looking to go forward, or backwards?

Some of my family are Howsegos and they were from Canning Town. The head of the house was Frederick William (sometimes recorded as William Frederick) his wife was Emily (nee Morris) they had 5 children: Arthur, William, George, Albert and Martha. In 1911 Emily was living with a man called John Litson, they were living at 16 Martindale Road, Custom House. If anyone has any information please contact me
