I have found the death cert for my birth Grandmother:

Betty Lilian Davies died in Worthing, West Sussex in September 2000.

The death was recorded in the name of Elizabeth Davis but all birth details stated are a 100% match for my grandmother with regards to date and place so it would seem that this is one and the same person. Born in Hampstead, 22nd September 1920.

Betty gave birth to my mother in September 1959 but she was adopted 6 months later. We believe she had a child 18 months older but I have searched BMD records and have found nothing conclusive.

Betty was travelling between the UK and Kenya/South Africa at the time but I have searched passenger records on Findmypast and again, found nothing conclusive.

Other known relatives from Betty's birth certficate:

Jessie Matilda Clark (Mother)
Edward Davies (Father)

I think they married in Chorlton, Manchester in April 1916 from a Marriage Cert I have located.

I have found WW1 service records for Edward on Ancestry.

Lived at 165 Sumatra Road, Hampstead in 1920.

Edward Davies worked in Ministry of Pensions as a Civil Servant.

Other than this I am totally stuck!

I have just updated this posting after the reading the "Advice for Beginners" that has just been posted; great advice.

Many thanks
