Andrew, Hi, this is a long shot, but have found that he later remarried in 1969 to a Bernadette Hayes, and that he died in 1996. we are trying to find out if he had any children to Daphne, as he had none to the third wife. Christine :-D

Andrew, thank you for the details that you have just given, this is my husbands side that he is trying to trace, Melville married Betty Jean Case in Sydney 1947, he was supposed to have been divorced from Daphane. My husband was around 7 when they divorced, he was born the year they married. My husband Peter was interested in seeing if his father was still alive when we listed this message, If you are able to trace back on me Marks side, this will be great. Thanks for all the help you have provided so far. regards Christine

Christine, Further to the information in this post I have found some more. The death in NSW is not the correct Daphne as she would have been 11 when she died so she would have to have been married under 11 years old and Melville would have been 13. There is a record of his wife's service during WW2 which gives her birth details as 25JUN 1922 Wallaroo Mines, Checking the records in SA Births 3 Daphne's were born in 1922, only one on the date and at the location. So I believe that Daphne was born Daphne May Haynes 25 Jun 1922 Wallaroo Mines SA to Frederick John Howard Haynes and Ethel May Huddy. Register book 98A page 180.
Frederick and Ethel married at Moonta Registry Office on 25 OCT 1916 and their fathers were John Haynes and Henry Huddy. Their ages were Frederick 27 and Ethel 17. Let me know if you want to track back on this line and I will keep digging. Andrew

MARKS MELVILLE LAWRENCE : Service Number - 122757 : Date of birth - 16 Oct 1920 : Place of birth - WALLAROO MINES SA : Place of enlistment - ADELAIDE SA : Next of Kin - MARKS DAPHNE
Looks like he married in SA to Daphne previously?
His occupation was dry cleaner and presser, wife shown as Daphne May Marks. His religion was Salvation Army. He was 5' 6" with brown hair and blue eyes and was a leading aircraftman on discharge.
Looks like Daphne died in 1933 in Liverpool NSW, dau of Alfred & Martha (reg 12358).
In 1947 he was living at 13 Done St Arncliffe NSW and reapplied for RAAF service.

I am trying to find a Melville Lawrence Marks, who could have been born around 1920 and came from South Australia, he married a Betty Jean Case around 1947 in Sydney, NSW, He may have dropped the Melville and just gone by the name of Lawrence Marks. Any help about his parents, etc as he divorced Betty Jean a few years later, and we have no idea where he went or where he is. thanks Christine
