Edward Murray was born c1902 in Belfast.

Hi folks.
I am trying to trace my paternal grandfather’s family line

Edward Francis Murray was born in 1902 in Belfast. (DOB Unknown).
I believe Edward was a Roman Catholic.
Family gossip has it that Edward spent a lot of time in an orphanage in Belfast. (Reason unknown).

My paternal grandparent’s marriage is:

Marriages Sep 1927
Dilworth Annie L Murray Liverpool 8b 316
Murray Edward F Dilworth Liverpool 8b 316

Edwards’s father was called Michael Murray (according to Edwards’s marriage certificate).

I already have Edwards’s marriage certificate if that helps

A very kind member of GR (thanks Ann) then sent me this info: there are just a few Murray’s in Belfast with the first name Michael, take a look at the family at 32 Garnet Street, the youngest child I think is 3months in 1901.

Michael Murray aged 30 head drapery dealer RC CO Down
Ellen Murray wife aged 30 RC Co Antrim
John Murray aged 3 son Co Antrim
Mary Ellen aged 1 daur
John aged 3months son
Jane Murray aged 16 Niece

All RC All born Co Antrim except Michael Murray .

1. Would it be possible that this is my granddads family?
2. For some reason John (aged 3months) later changed his name?
3. As well as changing birth year (1902, according to Edwards’s marriage certificate).
4. In Michaels line does RC CO Down actually mean Roman Catholic convert?


Could anyone advise me, on how to go about finding this information out please?
Money is tight at the moment & I can’t afford to send off for certificates that are not 100% definite!
