Hello,
I am doing research on this line as well. I am also stuck at Rachel Maria Absalom.
I have their marriage at Oct Nov Dec 1873 St Savior Southwark London. 1d 289.
I found this on Ancestry and they want $38 to get the record. :-( This record will have Rachel's parents on it so I am waiting until I want to part with 38 bucks or find a way to get it cheaper.
I see this thread is 5 years old and I hope someone is still interested in this so we can have some correspondence and work together.
Cheers,
Tracey

What Maureenin NY found this is the 1901 census;
1901 England Census about Rachel Cole Name: Rachel Cole Age: 52 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1849 Relation: Wife Gender: Female Where born: Newington, London, England Civil Parish: Newington Ecclesiastical parish: St Paul County/Island: London Country: England Street address:
Occupation:
Condition as to marriage:
Education:
Employment status: View Image Registration district: St Saviour Southwark Sub registration district: St Peter, Walworth ED, institution, or vessel: 7 Neighbors: View others on page Household schedule number: 37 Household Members: Name Age Rachel Cole 52 Fred Cole 20 General labourer Thomas Cole 19 William Cole 13 Maud Cole 15
Think it states Rachel is a widow, however the original image isn't very good.

Hi LL,
I've been looking at the census returns, bearing in mind that Fredericks father possibly died in 1890, this is leaving only the 1881 census to search and I can't pinpoint that one, maybe we should search back threw the Absolom side and try and find Rachel Maria, this could give us a DOB and place of birth for her and then we could search forward again.
Hope you catch my drift and I haven't confused you!!! LOL!!!
Your Frederick possibly took on the middle name "Bishop" in his marriage to carry on his fathers name, if so there is a strong chance that his mother remarried and that's the surname we need to find.

Hi Dee,
I believe that my mother in law did say something about a Cole member of the family marrying her cousin.
Do you want me to double check this info with her?

Until you know accurately where and when he was born, searching will be based on guesswork.
The marriage cert will have his age, and father's details..........
1911 census will tell you where he was born..........
http://fmpbsol.1911census.co.uk/
Unfortunately, both options will incur a cost...............

Hi all,
Frederick Cole married Emma Absolom in 1909, Southwark, London and although I have managed to locate their children and Emma's siblings I am struggling to find anything out about Frederick.
I have been told that he had brothers called; James,Thomas, and William and at least one sister Maud. Frederick himself was born c1885 most likely in the London area.
Can anyone help me out at all?
Thanks a lot
LL
