I am trying to find the origins of a William Clifton [c1720] who married Mary T[h]omlinson in Carlby, Lincolnshire on the 5th November 1741.
Promising research leads me back to Bedfordshire where their son William Clifton [baptised Careby 2nd August 1741]migrated to and married a Medice Hart. He was later removed back to his parish of birth where he died a pauper in 1784.
If anyone can give me any ideas as to why a man would move to Lincolnshire from Bedfordshire in the early seventeen hundreds it would be very useful.
