Thank you. I had to go away from the board so am only replying now. This is a surprise. I had expected her and family in Whitby and didn't think her mother would have been a widow and remarried. Regards - Marian

Hello, this post is about Jane Elizabeth (born born September quarter 1853 at Whitby), Eliza Mary's sister. She is a witness at Eliza Jane's marriage in 1874, still single. I can't find Jane on the 1881 census. She marries someone called ???Hutchinson/Hutchenson but I can't find marriage or the date. Below is the 1891 census and 1901 census
1891 census 20 Rokeby Street Stranton Hartlepool
Thomas Turner 27 married sail maker West H'Pool Margaret A 22 wife Sunderland Elizabeth Ferguson 58 mother married Whitby Jane Hutchenson 34 married Margaret Porritt 16 granddaughter
1901 census 22 Dundas Street West Hartlepool
Thomas Turner 38 married sail maker West H’Pool Margaret A Turner 30 wife Sunderland John W Turner 9 Elizabeth 7 Thomas H 0 Elizabeth Ferguson 67 widowed mother in law Whitby - Margaret must have filled census form in Edward Docherty 69 widowed ship carpenter lodger South Shields Jane Hutchinson 48 widowed domestic servant Whitby
Jane is married on 1891 census but widowed on 1901 census. Can't find her on 1911 census. There is a marriage for a Jane Elizabeth Hutchinson to Joseph Clark 1915 at Hartlepool. I haven't got marriage certificate so am assuming this is Jane but no actual proof. On 1921 census there is Joseph Clark (1840) Jane Elizabeth Clark (1852 born Whitby) and two others, at West Hartlepool (found by hovering on image). Death for Jane Elizabeth 1932 age 79 at Hartlepool. Please can anyone find Jane? Also, for reasons unknown, their mother Elizabeth Turner now calls herself Ferguson! Thank you

Hello Grey, yes below is 1871 census for Elizabeth
1871 High Street Seaton Carew
Elizabeth Turner 38 laundress Whitby with family called Stroves.
Thank you Erika for posting the 1921 census and using your credits.

Also: 1881 census Catherine Street Hartlepool
Elizabeth Turner 49 sailor’s wife Whitby Thomas 18 sail maker West Hartlepool
1881 census licensed lodging house Stranton Hartlepool
Edward Turner 55 married moulder iron lodger - possibly died 1883

So in 1871 both Edward and Elizabeth Turner say they are married but they are perhaps not living together.
Seaton Carew is shown as in Hartlepool area

? Have you got the correct Elizabeth in 1881 as you show her as a Sailor's wife, (unless she is living with a Sailor called Ferguson and at some point took his name).
Edward is an Iron Moulder in 1861/1871/1881
|
Yes Gray, I believe 1881 census to be the same Elizabeth, she is living with her son Thomas Turner as per 1881 census. Her first husband William Wilson was a sailor.
