Hi
If anyone can help I would really appreciate it, I am hoping to go to ESHOLT in Yorkshire the last know place where he was living around 1930's in July 2009 and see if there are any records there.

I really need to find him to find my Yorkshire roots.

Thank you Jeanne

Hi Lancashire Ann

The G is for Louisa Gregory Hogarth
It seems there was a correction made to the death cert. It was corrected from Louisa Gregory to Louisa Gregory Hogarth also changed was widow of Frederick Gregory to wife of Frederick Hogarth widower of deceased in attendance.
Its then signed by the registrar. Stating on production of a Statuary Declaration made by Frederick Hogarth and a Lucy Kaye.
It looks to me that there was a marriage at sometime? ....

I am curious now. You say you have the death cert in the name of Hogarth a42 in Knottingly (reg district Pontefract).
Is this from the same reference as this one?

Deaths Jun 1927
Gregory Louisa 42 Pontefract 9c 110

Is the (G) a middle name?

There is a marriage registered of Frederick Gregory and Louisa Eaton in the June quarter of 1904 at Fulham - ref volume 1a, page 683. That is where I got my info from. As it seems to match Louisa.

Regards

Jeanne

Hi Louisa was born 1885 in Battersea died aged 42 on 7 May 1927 Knottingley Yorkshire.

On her death cert it says Louisa (G) Hogarth.

Frederick Hogarth and Louisa (G) Eaton are both on my mothers birth certificate.

I am beginning to wonder if they ever got married and whether Louisa just changed her name?

My mother was adopted so this is why I am at a loss. Mildred 1923 Edith 1921 and Ronald 1920 all registered under Eaton/Hogarth

Thank you for trying so hard to try and find something about him.

Regards Jeanne

I think the Fred Hogarth on freebmd 1917 with no spouse surname is a mis-entry for the Sep qtr. On Dec qtr 1917 (not yet transcribed) there is a Fred with the same district/page (Northwich 8a 455) where the spouse name is Garner

Wouldnt the marriage cert of fred hogarth and louisa have his approx age on it and his fathers[if he had one named and it doesnt just say ,of full age, name so you can look him up on censuses.
there is a frederick hogarth/ louisa in 1917 going on freebmd but her surname is not listed.

the other thing that made me wonder if the Louisa's were the same was that she was born in London, married in London but the children were born in Yorks. There are rather a lot of Louisa Eaton's and Louisa Gregory's and wondered where the info that she married a Grogory in 1904 came from.

If the fathers name was Hogarth and she was'nt married to him would'nt that make the children Hogarth's?

the death of Louisa in 1927 is registered as Gregory. Are we sure there is only 1 Louisa in this plot. If she married a Gregory in 1904 the children were born as Hogarth mmn Eaton (1924) and she died as Gregory......?

ChristineinPortugal

ChristineinPortugal Report 30 Nov 2008 16:04

Think it would still show the maiden name but as you say the actual birth cert would show if she had previously been called Gregory.

Maybe they didn't marry because Frederick Gregory was still alive.

Am I losing the plot here.

Surely if Lousia Eaton married Gregory then Hogarth the birth should read mmn of Gregory !!!!

OR the birth cert should have all three surnames for the mother

My Grandfather Hogarth is so elusive I and a few others have tried searching for him and it seems he is no where to be found. I am still currently searching for information on him as no record of him to date.
On my mothers birth certificate he is Frederick Hogarth and her mother was a Louisa Eaton nee Gregory she died at Cridling Stubbs 1927.
I have found Louisa she was born in Battersea in 1885. She married a Frederick Gregory in 1904 I think he must of died.
I have searched till I am blue in the face for Frederick Hogarth. He was father to 3 children my mother Mildred being the youngest. He possibly remarried after Louisa's death in 1927 to a Alice Baker as they had a daughter name unknown.
This is so frustrating not being able to find anything on him as I dont know his date of birth or where he was from he was a northener possibly yorkshire but travelled from farm to farm mending carts.
