I am trying to trace/confirm the 'tales' passed down generations regarding a relative Thomas Scott (1803). He married a Margaret Wanliss (1823) in the parish of Whitingham - East Lothian. She was a maid at 'The Mill' Beyond Duns.

Thomas's Mother was a maid to the Duke of Buccleuch and (supposedly Charles 4th Duke or Walter 5th Duke was rumoured to be the father). Thomas's mother was given a house to live in called Whigmore Hall at Fraishaugh Farm, Somewhere between Selkirk and St Boswells.

If anyone has any info on Thomas's mother/father please can you get in touch!!
