hi rebecca, the story so far ( i hope)
LucySwanwick was born 4th child of ten to Henry and Lucy Swanwick @ Ellenhall Staffs. baptisms all at Ellenhall ST MARY; oct 17th 1858==Samuel mar 24th 1861== Dinah july 26th 1863==MaryAnn dec 15th 1865== LUCY aug 18th 1867== Fanny mar 13th 1870==John Henry mar 1st 1872== James july 5th 1874== Ezekiel jan 14th 1877== Alice aug 3rd 1879== Annie Jane father a labourer
Lucy then married John Rowley (born 1857) married 1887 Eccleshall they had 2 kids both baptised at chapel chorlton st lawrence nov 6th 1887 ==Alice Martha june 23rd 1889== James William Chapel Chorlton is in the parish of Eccleshall but after 1890's the records are still at the church ( if it is still open). James dies in 1894 and by 1901 lucy is living back with her dad and james ,alice is a servant at ranton
consequently i can not find a baptism for FLORENCE MABEL ROWLEY OR BENBOW in any of the parish registers for that area this doesnt mean she wasnt baptised because the vicars sometimes forgot to enter them!.
However bapt at Croxton St Pauls. oct 19th 1876== Sarah Ann Benbow jan 31st 1878 == JOHN THOMAS BENBOW Both to james and Julia/ Julietta? James is a Carpenter 1881 cencus Croxton James Benbow H 38 joiner from Cheswardine Salop Julia Benbow w 36------- from blythe marsh Forsbrook John Thomas s 6 scholar from croxton Elizabeth Johnson Benbow age 2 from croxton ( i know the ages dont match up but remember kids sometimes weren't baptised in the same year as birth; plus i'm not sure if elizabeth is a benbow?) 1891 croxton James Benbow widow 50 carpenter Cheswardine John T Benbow s 13 ag lab from croxton
mother Julia born Julia Henrietta Fordan (Foden) born 1843 blythe marsh dillhorne forsbrook married 1874 and died 1890 Anyhow John Benbow marries Lucy Rowley in 1908 and i have discovered that another child existed at Holy Trinity Eccleshall bapt nov 16th 1908 Mary Victoria Benbow ( sister to Florence ) to John Thomas and Lucy living Eccleshall him a labourer i went upto 1927 when the twins were born and could find no more. Holy Trinity's records are held at church after then, as are most churches. john benbow died i believe around 1922 stafford district. Rebbecca i'll leave you to decide if this information is correct, i can only tell you what i have found. i can't get to records until after xmas now, but if you would like me to check anything in the new yearjust look me up on genes trees as sue mills. Ihope you and your Uncle and families have a lovely xmas and a succesful new year. All the best Sue

hi sue, firstly let me thankyou for taking the time to look this information up for me, its very much appreciated!!
the marriage between john thomas benbow and lucy rowley nee swannwick, is very interesting, as i would think SWANNWICK is not a very popular. surname and it seems to link both benbows.
im wondering if these could actually be florence mabels parents, and its florence mabels mums sister or brother who is witness to her marriage to james thomas bradbury??
as for florence and john moving to the area that could also be possible as the only evidence i have is florences marriage to james at croxton.
the baptism of the twins is also interesting as one or both may still be alive, and have more information.
in response to your question about the bradburys, they all seemed to have been from forsbrook staffs, and later james and florence moving to blackbrook, maer, staffs.
let me thankyou once again, you have certainly given me some things to think about. ill be intouch soon and let you know if i come up with anything else.
thanks again best wishes rebecca

hi rebbecca sorry to get back so late ln the day. not much news sorry can not find the baptism of florence mabel looked in croxton-eccleshall-stone- standon, there is 1 other church slindon but the records for this church are kept at the church. also cannot find a baptism for a john benbow at these churches either, so do you know if they perhaps moved into the area ? however there are alot of benbows at the time in eccleshall area! 1 being a william benbow a bricklayer, don't know if this is any help by the way
i did find a marriage at eccleshall holy trinity church.1908 John Thomas benbow age 31 a batchelor living eccleshall a labourer father james a carpenter, Lucy rowley age 39 a WIDOW living eccleshall father henry Swannwick dcd witnessed by frank johnson/ lucy hocknall
i tell you this because it might be significant to whats next 1st swannwick must have been lucy's maiden name before her 1st marriage. 2nd and perhaps more telling when i looked at florence( mabel)& james thomas's marriage details you gave me the witnesses are a C SWANNWICK&GLADY'S JOHNSON i hope this hasn't caused to much confusion and if their is anything there that might be any good let me know ANYWAY i hope this is something for your uncle baptism of twins april 20th 1927 FLORENCE MARGARET & JAMES THOMAS BORN TO JAMES THOMAS & FLORENCE MABEL BRADBURY AT HOLY TRINITY CHURCH ECCLESHALL. FATHER IS DOWN AS FARM LABOURER. rebbecca i'm sorry this is little help but i will keep my eyes open for you and let me know if there are any further leads hope to hear from you all the best sue

Just thought on a Death cerificate for 1938 is the BIRTH DATE on there.
This would be helpful for Sue if she finds the parish book for baptisms.
