The soldiers, airmen and navy personnel who paid the supreme sacrifice, we owe them so much.

At the 11th hour of the eleventh day in the eleventh month , we stop to have óne minute's silence in respect. that is the least we can do.

To an unknown relation - I don't know where he fits on my tree yet but found a photograph of his grave in my late aunt's treasured mementoes tin.

In loving memory of a dear comrade killed by enemy action Dec 31st 1943.

We don't even know where this grave is but I will be remembering him this year along with all the other brave men, women and civilians past and present who have lost their lives in conflict.

One universal question, which I have never seen answered: two or three million pounds a day for the 1914-18 war, yet no monies were forthcoming to put industry on its feet on our return from that war. Many's the time I've gone to bed, after a day of 'tramp, tramp' looking for work, on a cup of cocoa and a pennyworth of chips between us; I would lay puzzling why, why, after all we had gone through in the service of our country, we have to suffer such poverty, willing to work at anything but no work to be had. I only had two Christmases at work between 1919 and 1939.

My Great grandfather's cousin ARNOLD WINSON 03/08/1883-27/03/1917 from Bebington, Wirral. His ship "Thracia" was torpedoed.
