Hi Kirsty
Sorry, been out for the evening.
Thank you so much for the marriage details for William Henry Doncaster.
Walter, on the marriage certificate was a harness cleaner - by 1918 when my Gran was born he was a Private in the Bedfordshire Regt and also a carriage cleaner for the Midland Railway.
Walter Jarrett's father James William Jarrett died in 1893. His profession was Engineers Labourer which made him very easy to track back through the census. I think Walter's mother Mary Ann (Brooks) born Wymondham, Norfolk c1837 was in a workhouse in 1901 (poor girl was in one in 1851 also) and possibly died in 1905. His sister Caroline Huband has their brother Ebenezer living with them in 1901 and Walter's not with his sister Jane White either.
Walter does have a brother George Jarrett 1866 and a brother William C Jarrett born 1870. I know that William C Jarrett had married an Elizabeth Veale just after the 1891 census.
William Henry Doncaster on the marriage certificate is down as having the profession coach painter - one of the reasons I was drawn to the family in Kensington is that Henry is a painters labourer. I think the other William Henry's were professional men from what I could see on the census. The William Henry married to Louise Row was a bootmaker so he's probably not my guy.
I've started doing a page by page by page search of each area of Marylebone to see if I can find them that way (plus possibly pick up other relations) but its incredibly slow going!!
Thanks for this - much appreciated.

Kirsty
It's a possibility. I know she was supposedly a game old bird and a bit of a boozer in her later years but no-one has even whispered about being born out of wedlock - that's assuming she even knew though.
Please don't put yourself to too much trouble over her - I may just have to accept that I'll never get to the bottom of her parents!!!
I'll keep trawling through the Marylebone enumeration districts one by one to see if I can find her. Frances Rose, her firstborn was registered in Marylebone in the September quarter of 1901 so she's got to be there somewhere. Unless she lied again - had the baby elsewhere and didn't register her in the district in which she was born.
Thanks a million for trying. Dee
