Wow!what a complex family the Gurner's were!I have been looking at the census records trying to work out how the Phillips family connect to Catherine.Robert i believe was Step father to Catherine and her sisters.Mary Ann Gurner was there mother.

This is confusing but i will try my best to explain it.I found a Thomas and Mary Ann Gurner on the 1871 with a daughter called Eleanor aged 1.I believe this could be Louisa Gurner from the 1881.Maybe her middle name was Eleanor?Thomas Gurner died in 1876

On the Census image the Gurner children are all listed as Grandchildren of the Head of house Robert Phillips.I presume the children's mother's father?I will look back on the 1871 to see if i can find Louisa Gurner.

Good morning!Well i have had a close look at the marriage record i found yesterday and i think the surname for Catherine is Gurner and not Gurnes!I have done a search of 1881 for a Catherine Gurner and i found a match which looks like the 1901 Catherine who is married to Charles

Hi Michelle

Wondered if you could help with some searches. I am looking for the parents of a Charles F Blanks (born c1869, South Africa) and his with Catherine (born c1873, Cambridge UK). They are both in the 1901 census, living in Cambridge with thier children, Alfrance, Charles, George, Margarat and Martha.
With Charles Blanks seeming to have moved to the UK from South Africa maybe with his parents, and not knowing Catherine's maiden name, I have got stuck with my little amount of knowledge of knowing where to look. You mentioned in a previous post you may have access to some lists of people migrating here? I really am stuck, are you able to help at all and point me in the right direction?
