Here is Senora

England & Wales, FreeBMD Birth Index, 1837-1915
about Senora Appleby
Name: Senora Appleby
Year of Registration: 1905
Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec
District: Chester Le Street
County: Durham
Volume: 10a
Page: 518 (click to see others on page)

The marriage record. You may have to get the cert for this 1 Helen. There are a few George Ellis on the BMD born around same time and place.

They married as you said in 1928 Q3

George W Ellis married Senora Appleby marriage was reigstered in Auckland

Vol Number 10a Page Number 524

This is a good poss for the birth record for George based on the marriage record with the W middle initial

England & Wales, FreeBMD Birth Index, 1837-1915
about George William Ellis
Name: George William Ellis
Year of Registration: 1902
Quarter of Registration: Apr-May-Jun
District: Auckland
County: Durham
Volume: 10a
Page: 272 (click to see others on page)

When you get the marriage cert it will state ages at marriage and father's names.I think it maybe a little risky to get the birth cert for George unless you are 100% certain he was born in Auckland in 1902.There are too many Ellis families to choose from on the 1901 and without any parents names or siblings it would be too risky.

Happy to help you once you get the cert.Certs can be ordered online from

www.gro.gov.uk cost is £7 per cert.

This looks like a poss for your Sarah Ann on the 1901?I found a marriage 1900 of a Sarah Ann and i thought this could be a possibility that she had married and was not seen on the 1901 for that reason.I think she did not marry Henry and they just said they were married to say face.

Joshua and James both Gen Labourer's
James's birthplace listed as Brentford and crossed out and Bermondsey listed
Sarah's was dittoed for London and then Bermondsey written and crossed out,The transcriber would have taken the ditto markings as Rotherhitle i presume.

Address difficult to make out??could be 19 Bathey Street??not good writing on this image!

Will look for more.Let me know if you know this James?if not i will see if i can find his connection to this Sarah.

Hi Michelle
You very kindly helped me on my great grandmother Annie Hutchings, I have her birth cert back and it matches also the birth cert of my grandfathers younger brother which is a match so thankyou!!!!
I have got a bit further now all the puzzle slotting together but I am having trouble with the folllowing
Tracing Annies Older brother Albert, last on 1891
also her sister Lilian last on 1891. I think i have found Henry in 1911 married in Hackney, but for some reason they all scattered in 1901.
Also her mother Caroline Roff I can't seem to find, she was born prob around 1853 in Croydon and married Albert in 1873. Not sure if she died before 1901??
Grasping at straws as would really like to find some of my grandfathers cousins.
Any help you could give would be much appreciated!!!! Also if i want to cross check a cert can I ring the records office or do i send for the cert and they'll not send it if it doesn't match??
Thank you :-)

There were no Harry James Murray's listed. The only way around this is to apply for each cert and ask for it to be cross checked for the parents names that you have.Or better still you could ring the local records office to the area and ask them to look for you.Alot of offices are happy to help with these types of searches and you are in a lucky position of having parents names.Ask them to search 1887-1890 for a James Murray with the parents names you have listed.

On the 1891 this family were living in the West Derby district

I don't hold the info from the birth records...only the Record Offices have this.So good luck and i am sure if you give them the names and a time scale to look at they will find them.I have advised people to do this same thing in the past with only 1 parent's name and they have been successful. There are too many to say which is the correct 1 and also birthyears on census records are listed as abt and are not always accuarate.Do you know when he died?Looking at the death record can sometimes help with birthyears?

Hi Michelle

Could I take up your offer of looking for a missing GGrandmother please? -

Sarah Ann McPherson
b. 8.6.1865 St. George in the East

I have her on 1871/81 (with parent's), 1891 with Henry Blackledge (cannot find a marriage). On the 1891 they have a son Henry b.1890 and an illegitimate son of Sarah's - Fred McPherson b.1883.

Sarah is missing on the 1901 census. Henry Blackledge is now living with a Mary (no marriage found). Henry above b.1890 has died, Fred is missing, but he would be eighteen, so probably living/working elsewhere. Margaret b.1892 (my grandmother), John b.1895, Susan (Susannah) 1897 & Jim (James) 1898 all living with Henry Blackledge and Mary.

I have sent for the Birth Cert. of James 1898 - mother Sarah McPherson, so Sarah has disappeared sometime after 1898, I cannot find a death and cannot find her on either 1901 or 1911 census. Can you help please?

For info - Sarah and Henry had 10 children -
Sarah Ann 1886-1886
Charles 1888-1890
Henry 1890-1892
Margaret 1892-1995
Eliza & Sarah 1894-1894
John 1895 -
Susannah 1897 -
James & Maria 1898 - 1899 (Maria)

On the 1911 Henry is now living with an Ellen , Susan and James are still there, but there are now five new children!! (Henry says he has been married for 25 years!
